Part 1: Identify Rough Opening
Industry Standard is that you add at least 2" to the overall dimension of the door size, to determine your rough opening (RO). For example, if you order (1) 30"W x 80"H size door, your RO needs to be at least 32"W x 82"H for a single door application.

Part 2: Jamb Kit
Select your jamb kit size, finish (either stain grade or primed) and hardware. You will choose from 5 hardware finishes: Rubbed Bronze, Satin Nickel, Polished Brass, Matte Black or Polished Chrome. You also have the option of ordering a door without a jamb kit.

Part 3: Handle Preparation
In this step, you'll confirm your preferred handle preparation. For a single door, you have the option of a 2-3/8 backset or no bore.

Part 4: Handing & Swing
Select your preferred handing and swing. This is used to determine which way a door opens. Follow the icons in the order form to confirm the correct position.

The clear pine material can be finished using a rich stain or a clear top coat for a natural look.
Part 1: Identify Finished Opening
When we talk about Bifolds, it is most important to know what is your Finished Opening Measurement (please measure from side to side, then top to bottom within your door opening). Typically a finished opening for bifolds is complete with sheetrock vs the Rough Openings (RO) for interior doors.
Once we know what your Finished Opening (FO) Dimensions are, we can determine if our standard bifold sizes will work, or if you will need a custom size. If you want an example of what to strive for with standard bifold sizes, and if you discover the FO is exactly 36"W x 80"H, then you could purchase that standard size unit. If you discover the FO is exactly 34"W x 78"H for instance, you would need to order a custom size.

Part 2: Select Your Size & Quantity
Choose your desired width and height dimensions from the options. Enter the quantity of doors you would like to order.

Part 3: Understand the Product
Our pine bifold doors are made with solid stiles(sides) and rails, allowing some room for trimming; however, the tolerance is minimal as too much trimming may affect the integrity of the door. Bifolds include overhead track and hardware for each unit.

Part 4: Need Custom Dimensions?
Standard sizes have minimal tolerance for trimming; avoid cutting too much. If you need special dimensions, contact customer service for a quote.

- Use the smallest measurement from Step 1 and the smallest measurement from Step 2 (should variations exist) when selecting the dimensions of your new door.

1. Measure the Door Opening
(Finished Opening)
This is the area that the barn door will cover when closed.
- Width: Measure the width of the opening from one side of the finished trim (or wall edge) to the other. Do this is 3 spots (top, middle, bottom) and use the widest measurement.
- Height: Measure from the finished floor to the top of the trim (or the top of the opening). Measure on both the left and right side and use the tallest measurement.

2. Add Overlap for Full Coverage
To ensure privacy and a complete seal, add to your measurements:
- Width: Add 2-4 inches to each side (total of 4-8 inches) so the barn door slab overlaps the opening. Standard overlap: 2" per side. Example: If your opening is 36", a 40" wide slab works well.
- Height: Add 1" above the opening to ensure coverage. Subtract 1/2" to 1" from the bottom to allow for floor clearance (especially if flooring varies).

3. Final Door Slab Size
- Width = Opening width + 4"-6" for overlap
- Height = Opening height + 1" overlap - 1/2" floor clearance

Tips
- If there's no trim, measure wall edge to wall edge.
- For double barn doors, divide the total width (plus overlap) by 2.
- Always verify ceiling height for track clearance (usually needs 6-7" above the door for hardware).
