Part 1: Identify Rough Opening

Industry Standard is that you add at least 2" to the overall dimension of the door size, to determine your rough opening (RO). For example, if you order (1) 30"W x 80"H size door, your RO needs to be at least 32"W x 82"H for a single door application.

Part 2: Jamb Kit

Select your jamb kit size, finish (either stain grade or primed) and hardware finish. You also have the option of ordering a door without a jamb kit.

Part 3: Handle Preparation

In this step, you'll confirm your preferred handle preparation. For a single door, you have the option of a 2-3/8 backset or no bore.

Part 4: Handing & Swing

Select your preferred handing and swing. This is used to determine which way a door opens. Follow the icons in the order form to confirm the correct position.

Part 5: Casing

In this final step, you have the option to add a door casing to your order. You can also proceed with no door casing.

Commonly Asked Questions

I am replacing an existing door, what dimensions should I use?

If you are looking to replace an existing door, the fastest way to obtain the right dimensions for your new door is to measure your old one. Be sure to note the height, width and depth of the door.

I do not have an existing door to measure from, how do I determine the correct dimensions?

If you do not have an existing door to measure from, following the steps below to get the finished opening size of your doorway:

  1. Measure the height of the door opening from the sill to the underside of the frame. Obtain this measurement from the left, middle and right sides of the opening.
  2. Measure the width of the door opening from the inside of the frame to the inside of the frame. Obtain this measurement from the top, middle and bottom of the opening.
  3. Measure the depth of the door jamb. Typically this dimension is 1 ⅜”, however, for some of our bifold doors, the depth is 1 ⅛”.
  4. Use the smallest measurement from Step 1 and the smallest measurement from Step 2 (should variations exist) when selecting the dimensions of your new door.
How do I add jamb kits to my order?

Our doors are prepped and pre-hung in our facility to ensure that everything fits perfectly based on your specifications. For safe shipping, we package them knocked down/flat with the hinge jamb attached for a cost effective and safe transit to your home or job site.

Fill out the form below to add the prehung option to your order. All double door prehung doors will add an additional door to your cart. Please note that any doors 16" and under in width may not be bored as the stile is too narrow. Select your double doors as 1/2 the width size needed for a full application.
